Someone dear to me indicated that she was unsure of some of the choices she had made and that it left her feeling a bit down. She quoted Robert Frost.
And both that morning equally lay/in leaves no step had trodden black./ Oh , I kept the first for another day!/ Yet knowing how way leads on to way,/ I doubted if I should ever come back.
That’s the third verse from “The Road not taken.” One of Frost’s more famous poems. And it’s interesting to look at this one. I’ve never really taken a close look at it before but now that I do I see something that really catches me off guard and tells you who much I’ve changed since reading this High School. Read more…
Generally I don’t pay attention to numbers. I mean, the mystical significance of numbers is often the result of the human desire to assert pattern and semblance of order to otherwise random distributions and occurrences. Don’t believe me? Check out the crazy conspiracy theories around the number 23 if you want to see what I mean.
This time however, for some reason I don’t really understand, I got caught up in the significance of sequential numbers. Is Genesis 2:3 significant for example? 1st book of the bible, 2nd chapter, 3rd verse? I like Gen 2:3 but it didn’t really speak to me so I decided to look at the beginning of the bible and was amazed that right off the bat, we are given an incredible revelation of God’s character. I don’t mean the revelation of God as Creator. That’s incredible, but we talk about that a lot and we see His hand constantly creating and guiding creation and we tend not to forget the part about God as Creator.

So I guess this is the second revelation of God’s character which is presented in Genesis 1:2. Read more…
So there are couple of times I’ve talked about Christian Identity and I’ve mentioned Identity in Christ before. But last night, in the midst of a discussion involving smores, el chupacabra, and the sacrifices that Marines make overseas, a guest to our bible study made a comment that has really stuck with me… actually he said a lot of comments that stuck with me and I can’t remember them all but I can remember the spirit behind them which went something like this. “I can either enjoy my life, or live the way the church tells me to.” The unspoken implication being that the church wants us to be miserable. Ever hear a Christian say “I don’t think I have enough faith”? This always strikes me as an absurd excuse or statement. Don’t get me wrong, I always feel for the person saying it, but at the same time I have to really work to not laugh in his/her face and the only thing stopping me is remembering that I was there once too. And here’s the one liner that got me out of it.
“I’m sorry, but you close your eyes and pour your heart out to a being you have no solid proof of even existing with genuine expectation that you’ll hear something back and you don’t think you have enough faith?” Read more…
Anyone who has ever watched a war movie has heard the expression “standing orders.” What does this mean? It means that it doesn’t matter what the circumstances are there are some things you always look for. It might that no matter what the first goal is take prisoners of war, or it could be that the first course of action will be to asses the needs of civilian populations. As Christians our orders are pretty simple “Love the LORD with all your heart…and love your neighbor as yourself.” “Heal the sick, cleanse lepers, cast out demons and spread the news of the Kingdom of God.” “Go and make disciples of all the nations.” Now my buddies over at Daily Discipleship, Pursuing a Life of Significance, and Campfire Cowboy Ministries do a great job with these I really encourage you to take a look over there if you feel like these are places you want to grow (I probably get half my ideas and materials from them anyways – thanks guys!)
But there’s one other set of orders we don’t usually think about in Ephesians 6:13. “Withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”
What? You might ask. “What’s he one? Dude, why aren’t you sharing?” Well I’m on Jesus and THIS is sharing. :-p Read more…
