Why do you hate me so much?

March 20, 2012 Leave a comment

Dear People,

Now there’s a lot I don’t understand.  Let me be honest.  I don’t understand how a bunch of positively charged protons can remain in constant proximity since the similar charges should blow them apart.  After constantly having people explain it to me I don’t understand how nuclear fission works and I really don’t get the concept behind cold fusion although it sounds really cool.  I don’t understand how a perfect God can love an imperfect me. I don’t understand why some people need the bible to be 100% historically accurate and I don’t understand why evolution is at odds with a biblical worldview.

What really kills me though, what I really don’t understand, is why people hate me so much. Read more…

don’t run to China and tell Perry to take potshots at us

From about 1853-1869 Japan was in a period of turmoil known as the Bakumatsu which translates more or less to “the end of the curtain.”  Some refer to it instead as the Meiji restoration or revolution – Meiji being the name the emperor took after the conflict meaning “enlightenment.”  What’s important to notice here, however, is not the question of whether we should consider it as the end of the Shogunate or the beginning of a new era of enlightenment (the momentum of which led Japan to be the military force it was during World War II).  What’s important to know about the Bakumatsu is that the two primary players in the conflict (the Shogunate and the Ishin Shishi) were both working in what they considered to be in the best interest of the Emperor. I had a weekend right?

On Mondays, I always try and make a point of looking back over the weekend and seeing what I did.  I specifically look for good things that give me hope and joy.  And there was a lot that happened this weekend that I could look at.

But that’s also part of the problem.  SOOOOO much happened this weekend I can barely remember having a weekend!

Some of the Highlights:

  • My baby boy slept through the ENTIRE night (11pm=> 10am) with only one interruption at around 4am.  And he slept in his own room!
  • I got to reconnect with some friends that I hadn’t seen in … a long time. Lol
  • I was teaching on Sunday and God totally blessed me by keeping my feet out of my mouth.
  • I received the most awesome word of encouragement from one of the kids in my youth group. Read more…

Hope for the week

This was a great weekend.  I started out the weekend sick but so much good happened that I can hardly believe it.

  • I joined in with our churches detention center ministry
  • I taught children’s ministry on Sunday morning
  • I had a great opportunity to encourage some good friends of mine
  • I was in turn greatly encouraged by these friends
  • I wrapped up Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University and was greatly blessed by it
  • I came to understand biblical stewardship Read more…

I’m not putting God in a box, just a backpack

I had a great weekend. I woke up this morning and by the time I got into work at 7:59AM, I had forgotten most of the goodness from this weekend. I realized after struggling through my morning, saying some very un-Christian things to my computer and the website I’m working on, then repenting for saying so many un-Christian things, that I really need to stop and store for myself the memories of what made this weekend great.

How many times does Scripture encourage us to remember the works of the Lord? How many times does the Father tell us that we are not forgotten and he remembers the promises he has given us? Read more…
